Leading into the overnight hours a story emerged from the Wall Street Journal claiming US President Donald Trump had sent the convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein "bawdy" 50th birthday messages complete with a drawing of a woman with his name signed across her private parts, which they claim resembled pubic hairs. The president has denied ever sending such a drawing and threatened to sue the paper if they published the report, which they did .
