Influencer Ducky Bhai to Remain in Custody in Case Related to Promotion of Gambling Apps

Popular YouTuber Saadur Rehman, widely known as Ducky Bhai, will remain in custody into this weekend at least.

Bhai, who resides in Lahore, Pakistan, is under investigation for the promotion of gambling apps.

The case has engaged Gambling911.com readers with close to 6500 impressions over the last 24 hours for our coverage of his arrest.

Bhai was arrested Saturday night at the Lahore airport and presented before a judicial magistrate, who had first granted a two-day physical remand. He is currently in the custody of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

Investigating Officer Shoaib Riaz asked the court to approve a 28-day remand, alleging that the suspect was a member of an “international gambling racket.” but the court only extended the remand until August 23 (Saturday).

The case was registered by the state through NCCIA Lahore at midnight on August 17 under several sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, along with sections 294 B and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code. According to the FIR, the case against Ducky Bhai was registered under several sections of PECA, including Section 13 (Electronic Forgery), Section 14 (Electronic Fraud), Section 25 (Spamming) and Section 26 (Spoofing). He was also charged under Sections 294-B and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The FIR said that Ducky Bhai among other internet personalities were promoting gambling apps such as Binomo, 1xBet, Bet365 and B9 Game for financial gain, which had resulted in financial losses for people who had been misled into using their savings on these platforms.

Investigators said they had collected 27 video links from his account that allegedly promoted these applications, though many of them are no longer available online.

Promoting, advertising, or facilitating gambling counts as abetting gambling, which is punishable with a prison sentence potentially up to seven years.
