More than 73% of the public betting the Cowboys-Eagles 2025 NFL Thursday night opener were backing Philadelphia on the spread at -7.5.  The Super Bowl defending champion Eagles have gone 4-2 against the Cowboys over their last six games, so not entirely dominating, but certainly Philly has a bit of an edge here.   The Eagles, however, have won the last three games against Dallas at home.  If you dare to bet the Cowboys to win outright on the moneyline, you're looking at a $290 to $310 payout on every $100 bet depending on the book.

What Our Model Suggests

Our model did go 3-1 in college football this past week.  We jumped on two of the three winners - Auburn and Ohio State.

An early look at the Cowboys-Eagles game we have the number trending from Philly -7 to -7.5.

We get a number of Eagles 14.5 for this game, indicating a significant underlay.  The underdog does have a slight edge when there is an underlay with the number between 7 and 7.5. The two-year sampling, however, is low with a 71% positive outcome for the dog.

The Capper Sees a Cowboys Cover, Eagles Win

Lou Scataglia of FanSided writes: "The first game of the 2025 NFL Season is a classic NFC East showdown, and while I do believe the Cowboys can go into Philly and take down the Eagles in an upset, the home team is going to be riding their Super Bowl ceremony, and the crowd is going to be on fire. I am not sure this Cowboys' team is capable of the Week 1 upset."

Eagles survive as the defense and Jalen Hurts gut one out in a 28-23 win vs. Cowboys
