2008 Week 2 NFL Power Rankings
The following 2008 Week 2 NFL power rankings are courtesy of Gambling911.com.
1. Dallas Cowboys - This team - the lone favorites now to win the 2009 Super Bowl at +400 odds (see SBG Global ) - dominated during Week 1. They made the Cleveland Browns look like a very bad elementary school flag football team, and perhaps they are. They will no doubt be tested this coming Monday facing off against another team that dominated during Week 1 - The Philadelphia Eagles. The Dallas Cowboys are a -7 favorite at home at BetUS.com
2. New England Patriots - Don't believe the hype. This team is still better than most out there even without its key component, Tom Brady. Amazingly they are a +1 ½ underdog at BetUS.com against the New York Jets this weekend. This may or may not be a good test for them. Obviously, a better test would be against the Cowboys.
3. New York Giants - They beat the Washington Redskins (who we believe could be an above .500 team by the time this season is done) handily. Still, they get little respect. They were a +1400 long shot to win the 2009 Super Bowl even after the AFC favorites all seemed to crash and burn during Week 1. See 2009 Super Bowl odds at SBG Global
4. Pittsburgh Steelers - Crushing offensive line and a real understanding that they can win the 2009 Super Bowl now that New England appears (at least in the mind of the public and odds makers) to be "less dominant". The Steelers still pay $1000 for every $100 bet if they do win the 2009 Super Bowl at SBG Global.
5. Indianapolis Colts - We expect them to be back in the top 3 in no time. But Week 2 won't be easy for them to help boost their power ranking as the Colts face Minnesota on the road. BetUS.com has them as a -2 favorite
6. Philadelphia Eagles - Donovan McNabb looked more solid and healthy than ever. The Eagles are listed with +1400 odds to win the 2009 Super Bowl (a $100 bet pays out $1400). Of course, they could be thrust towards the top of these rankings with a win over Dallas this weekend.
7. San Diego Chargers - Not done yet. They started off badly last season too. The good news is they have value to win the 2009 Super Bowl paying $650 for every $100 bet if you get on them right now at SBG Global. These odds probably won't last unless they are LOCKED IN NOW.
8. Chicago Bears - The biggest upset of the week against Indianapolis. We don't think this was a fluke. The Bears looked superb. They would still pay a whopping $3500 for every $100 bet if they were to win the 2009 Super Bowl.
9. Green Bay Packers - The new quarterback came through and appeared to have learned a thing or two from the legend, Brett Favre. Packers were back to getting some respect from odds makers who now had them with +1500 odds to win the Super Bowl.
10. The Jacksonville Jaguars - This team could potentially fall out of the top 10 next week due to injury woes. They host a Buffalo Bills team that pummeled the Seahawks this past weekend. Jags are -5 ½ at BetUS.com.
