Job security as a coach in any professional sport is not terribly...secure...these days.
In the history of the Big 4 sports, we've never witnessed more turnover than we've seen in the past five years.
After Mike Malone was surprisingly fired late last season, that only left three NBA coaches who were hired before 2020 still in their same positions.
Another crazy statistic...three of the last five NBA Championship-winning coaches have been fired less than two years after their title (Malone 2025, Budenholzer 2023, Vogel 2022).
With so many first- and second-year coaches heading into the 2025-26 campaign, we don't expect as many to be fired this year, but you never know.
BetOnline.ag has set odds for which coach will be the first casualty of the upcoming season. There are six coaches with better than 10/1 odds, so not exactly an overwhelming favorite at this point.
