2026 NBA Playoffs, Win Total Odds

The NBA preseason is in full swing with nationally-televised games just about every day, and we're only six days away from opening night of the 2025-26 regular season.

And from today, we're six months and two days from the start of the NBA Playoffs.

Everyone is speculating as to which 16 teams (still too many in our humble opinion) will be in that tournament come April 18. 

Below is what the oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag are projecting, in terms of odds and probabilities.

Of note, three teams that missed the playoffs last year but are favored to make them this year are the Hawks, 76ers(!) and Spurs.

The three teams who made the playoffs last year but are not favored to do so this year are the Pacers, Grizzlies and Heat.

We’re less than a week away from the start of the NBA Season.

Some people (us included) think the season should start on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, our opinion holds less than zero weight in the NBA world.

So, Tuesday it is!

Let’s take a look at the current NBA Win Totals, courtesy of BetOnline.ag, headed into the upcoming season.

The win totals will be updated daily throughout the season. 

Spreadsheet notes:

1. The five biggest positive difference in win totals from one year ago to today:
   1. Detroit Pistons +21
   2. Portland Trail Blazers +13
   3. Atlanta Hawks +12
   4. Los Angeles Clippers +12
   5. Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs +9
2. The five biggest negative difference in win totals from one year ago to today:
   1. Boston Celtics -16
   2. Phoenix Suns -16
   3. New Orleans Pelicans -15
   4. Sacramento Kings -12
   5. Indiana Pacers -10
3. One team is unchanged from year-to-year, the Washington Wizards

Other Notes:

1. The original 2025-26 win totals were sent on 7/9/25. There is typically some movement of +/- 1 to 2 per team.
2. However, there was big movement amongst three teams:
   1. The Raptors opened at 32.5 and are now 38.5.
   2. The Kings opened at 38.5 and are now 34.5.
   3. The Bucks opened at 45.5 and are now 42.5.
