NBA Playoffs San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks odds were listed at Dallas -3 ½ at SBG Global.  This one goes off Wednesday, 9:35 pm Eastern - TNT

The Dallas Mavericks will look to take a 2-0 lead in their NBA playoffs series against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.  The Mavericks won 100-94 in Game 1 and San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich was not pleased with many of his players. "I think we've got to have a few more people step up and play worth a damn," Popovich said, "I thought we had a lot of guys that played like dogs."  The Spurs turned the ball over 17 times and committed 28 fouls. They are going to have to play a lot better on Wednesday to even up the series.

The Spurs got good play out of Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili but not many other players contributed.  Richard Jefferson had only four points while George Hill, Keith Bogans and Roger Mason were all scoreless. "It's hard sometimes for them to produce a lot unless we put them in that position to score more," Ginobili said. "So I don't think it was only their fault. I think it was our fault, too, for not finding them in the right positions."

San Antonio also has to find a way to stop Dirk Nowitzki or this is going to be a short series. Nowitzki had 36 points in the opener.  The Spurs should do things differently on Wednesday. "If they're going to double-team him, it's up to us to penalize them for doing it," Dallas guard Jason Kidd said. "Hopefully we're up to the challenge."  The Mavericks realize the Spurs are going to play better so they know they also need to step up their game.

"We are going to have to play better," head coach Rick Carlisle said. "We competed well during most parts of the NBA game, but we had some breakdowns, some situations where we weren't engaged as we needed to be."

The Spurs are 18-8 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Spurs are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games. The Spurs are 0-6 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Dallas.

The Mavericks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Conference Quarterfinals games. The Mavericks are 7-27-1 ATS in their last 35 games as a home favorite.

The Under is 6-1-2 in the Spurs last 9 road games. The Under is 5-1-1 in the Mavericks last 7 games as a home favorite. The Under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings in Dallas.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
