This has been the craziest college football coaching carousel we’ve ever seen.
Coaches are getting fired midseason with humongous buyouts, while other coaches are getting more money and big extensions just because their names are bandied about in rumors (see Matt Rhule, Rhett Lashlee, Eli Drinkwitz, Clark Lea, etc.).
LSU, Florida, Auburn and Arkansas named new coaches over the weekend.
So, that leaves openings still at Cal, Penn State and UCLA.
Now, we can add Kentucky to the list of universities looking for a new football coach as they fired Mike Stoops after his 13-year run. They only owe him $37 million, which is chump change compared to LSU and Penn State.
Michigan State is looking for a new coach too after firing Jonathan Smith, but all signs point to Pat Fitzgerald getting the gig.
We suspect there will be more coach firings over the next few weeks as well.
The oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag, have opened odds for the next Kentucky coach and updated lines for the Cal, Penn State and UCLA jobs.
