Boxers announce their retirement and it’s taken with a grain of salt. The only boxer that immediately comes to mind that stayed retired was Marvin Hagler.
Recently, we have seen Manny Pacquiao and Tyson Fury come out of retirement. Other legendary boxers that did were Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roy Jones Jr. and Rocky Balboa.
Oh, and Apollo Creed did for an exhibition, but that didn’t end so well.
On Tuesday, Terence “Bud” Crawford announced his retirement saying he was “walking away as a great with nothing else left to prove” at 38 years old.
Crawford is 42-0 and saved his best for last going up two weight classes to dominate Canelo Alvarez. But is this really it for one of the greatest boxers that ever lived or is this posturing for way more money in a rematch against Alvarez.
We shall soon find out how sincere this retirement really is.
The oddsmakers at BetOnline.ag have set odds on if Crawford is really retired (at least for this upcoming year).
Will Terence Crawford fight in 2026?
Yes +110 (11/10)
No -150 (2/3)
Note: These odds indicate a 40% likelihood of Crawford fighting in 2026.
