The Douglas County, Nevada Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) has announced the arrest of a man for allegedly making a bomb threat at a Stateline casino.
Authorities say the investigation determined the bomb threat call was placed by Seth Maybee of South Lake Tahoe.
Maybee allegedly made the call to Harrah's Casino on Monday evening shortly before 10 pm. Police were immediately dispatched to that casino.
The caller stated, “Yeah, I just lost over $20,000 at your stupid casino, and I am going to destroy it now. I am going to bomb it. This is a bomb threat.”
Maybee was located at his residence in South Lake Tahoe and was arrested by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department on Jan. 6, 2026, at approximately 1:43 a.m. Maybee is charged with making a bomb threat and making terroristic threats. He was booked into the El Dorado County Jail and will be extradited to Douglas County, Nevada, to face charges.
“I want to thank Harrah’s Casino for their quick reporting of this incident and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department for their assistance in the arrest of Maybee,” said Sheriff Dan Coverley. “Due to the history of the Harvey’s bombing in the early 1980s, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Stateline casinos take these threats very seriously. Fortunately, we were able to make an arrest before anything happened.”

That reference was to the 1,000-pound bomb left at Harvey’s Hotel Casino by disgruntled gambler John Birges in 1980 that went off doing $15 million damage in one of the largest terrorist attacks on American soil until the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
Remarkably, nobody was injured in the Harvey's Hotel Casino bombing.
