New York topped the list with Chicago a close second in terms of the most fun cities in the US.  Las Vegas came in way outside the top 10 at number 26.

The cities were ranked for shopping, food and drink, culture, popular entertainment, gambling, and the combination of high- and low-impact sports by Portfolio.com.

Portland, Main beat out Las Vegas and even made the top 10 and this has led to come outcries of "Coast bias".

It's versatile. Portland is among the five concentration leaders in seven other fields: fitness centers, restaurants, golf courses, amusement parks, museums, movie theaters, and performing arts companies.

In regard to the so-called "Coast bias", J. Jennings Moss, the site's editor explains:

"With major metropolitan areas like New York, Boston, Miami and Philadelphia, the East Coast offers a mix of both tourists and residents drawn to these cities for the diverse selection of shopping, food and drink, and cultural experiences."

For those who think Portland might be an odd choice to beat out Vegas, how about Albany, New York?

The Capital Region ranked 22nd, just behind 21st place Poughkeepsie, New York!
