The Women's Short Track Speed Skating

Courtney Sarault (CAN) pays US$200 for every US$100 bet to win the Women's Short Track 1000m Speed Skating competition Monday.  Xandra Velzeboer (NED) pays the same while Hanne Desmet (BEL) will pay out US$550 for every US$100 bet and Arianna Fontana (ITA) pays US$850.

Sarault  is a two time Olympic medalist and winner of the Crystal Globe title for the 2025 Short Track World Tour.  She took home the bronze in the Women’s 500m Short Track at this year's Olympics.

"I don’t even think it’s set in yet,” Sarault said after her race. “It feels amazing.”

She added: "“It’s a dream. It’s been a dream, and it’s something this year I thought could be in the cards for me  The fact that I’m standing here now – individual Olympic medallist, I don’t even think it’s set in how cool it is.”

Xandra Velzeboer won the gold medal in that event.

Velzeboer was also a member of the gold-medal-winning 3,000 metre relay women's short track team at the 2022 Winter Olympics.

"This is the best day of my life. It's amazing. It's been my goal for the last four years, maybe for my entire life," Velzeboer, 24, told reporters.

Desmet is a three-time Belgian all-round champion, and in 2018, she became this by winning all individual distances. Moreover, she holds the Belgian records for all distances.

In March 2025, she won the gold medal in the 1000 metres at the 2025 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Beijing, China.

At this year's Winter Olympics, Desmet became the first Belgian woman to have won two Winter Olympics medals, winning the bronze medal with the Belgian team in the mixed 2000 metre relay short-track speed skating at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano and Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy, adding to the bronze medal she won four years before
