The leader of a Kansas City-based gambling ring with ties to the online sports betting haven of Costa Rica has plead guilty.
Gerlarmo Cammisano, son of the late Kansas City organized crime figure William "Willie the Rat" Cammisano, plead guilty Wednesday morning to organizing and running an illegal online sports bookmaking ring.
His brother, William Cammisano Jr., was among six others who have pleaded guilty for their role in the organization, which prosecutors say handled about $3.6 million in bets from March 2006 until April 2009.
Gerlarmo Cammisano faces up to five years in federal prison and will be sentenced after a pre-sentence report is completed.
