Jontay Porter

The National Basketball Association (NBA) banned former Toronto Raptors player Jontay Porter for life in April of 2024 after he was found to have disclosed confidential information to sports bettors and wagered on games, even betting on the Raptors to lose.

Now nearly two years later, Porter will be playing basketball again, this time for the revived United States Basketball League (USBL) and the Seattle SuperHawks.

The USBL is being revived after nearly two decades. The reboot is planned to begin play in March 2026 with a season and a lineup of eight new and returning franchises, including the Superhawks.

The USBL was a spring league originally founded in 1984 and in operation until 2008.

Porter’s signing was announced Wednesday, with the SuperHawks’ season beginning March 7. They will play their home games at Seattle Pacific University’s Royal Brougham Pavilion.

Porter currently awaits sentencing for the gambling-related federal charge that occurred during his 2023-24 stint with the Raptors.

He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in July 2024.
