A man is suing the Silver Sevens Hotel and Casino after he says he was stung by a scorpion while staying there in May.

Sulaiman Lutale was stung in the middle of the night, the 4th night of his stay, while staying at the property during a business trip.

Silver Sevens is owned and operated by Affinity Interactive.  Affinity Interactive owns the Daily Racing Form (DRF), one of the oldest horse-racing media and data brands.

“From my understanding, he was in his bed, and he was getting ready to go to sleep, [and] felt a significant sting,” Brian Virag of “My Bed Bug Lawyer” told 8NewsNow He represents Lutale.

8NewsNow obtained video of the scorpion.

The “significant sting” led Lutale to ask his roommate to begin recording video of the scorpion.

“A scorpion on the floor,” a person said on the video.

The sting reportedly happened on May 29, 2025.

Virag identified the species as a Arizona bark scorpion, considered one of the most venomous in North America.

An adult male can reach 8 centimetres (3.1 in) of body length, while a female is slightly smaller, with a maximum length of 7 centimetres (2.8 in).  Due to the extreme pain induced, many victims describe sensations of electrical jolts after envenomation.

The property said it takes guest safety seriously and has pest-control protocols in place, and that the hotel investigated the report after the guest notified staff, though Silver Sevens has not yet admitted liability.

Virag's firm specializes exclusively in bed bug litigation and only represents victims of bed bug exposure as well as other insect bites (scorpions included).

In 2017 he won a $104k verdict for a Bakersfield mother and her children who had been attacked by bed bugs in their apartment. At the time, it was the largest jury verdict in California history. Thereafter, he went on to win numerous 6 and 7 figure verdicts including the largest bed bug verdict in US history against Park La Brea apartments for more than $3.5 million dollars.

Scorpions allegedly biting hotel guests in Vegas is nothing new.

In 2023, a man sued the Venetian Resort Las Vegas (specifically the Palazzo tower) after allegedly being stung multiple times by a scorpion in his bed.

The guest reported finding the venomous creature in his underwear and required hospital treatment.

The guest woke up with sharp pain in his groin area and discovered a roughly 1-inch long scorpion.

That case has yet to be resolved.
