Top Sportsbooks Are Funding a Super PAC

April 9, 2026 (6:30 pm EDT)

Axios is reporting exclusively that the likes of FanDuel, DraftKings, Fanatics and Bet365 are funding a sports gambling super PAC to support the industry nationwide.

Why it matters?

Traditional sportsbooks have been advocating for broader legalization amid rising competition with prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket.

About $48 million has been contributed to Win for America.

They've already spent more than $20 million on primary elections in six states, including two states where sports betting isn't yet legal: Texas and Georgia.

Other states they've targeted include North Carolina, Illinois, Ohio and Alabama.

The organization expects to engage in as many as 15 more states between now and November, including Pennsylvania and New York, one of the sources tells Axios.

"These organizations seek candidates who will thoughtfully approach regulation and ensure legal sports betting can continue to support communities through billions in tax revenue and jobs across America," a Win for America spokesperson tells Axios.

Kalshi Founders Sit Down With Axios to Answer All the Tough Questions

April 9, 2026 (3:04 pm EDT)

The WSJ recently reported that the New York-based company is raising new private funding at a $22 billion valuation, a figure its cofounders didn't dispute on the show.

"In a world nowadays with this amount of polarization ... it's very important to have an unbiased source of information that can help you see and decrease the uncertainty about so many events that's going to happen in the future," says Luana Lopes Lara, who serves as Kalshi's chief operating officer.

In this episode of The Axios Show, Axios Business Editor Dan Primack sits down with the founders of Kalshi, Tarek Mansour and Lara, to dive deep into the world of prediction markets.

From the legal battles over election betting to the ethical questions surrounding "gambling" vs. "hedging," the show explore how these markets are reshaping how we forecast the future.

Per Polymarket, he promise of prediction markets is to harness the wisdom of the crowd to create accurate, unbiased forecasts for the most important events to society. That ability is particularly invaluable in gut-wrenching times like today. After discussing with those directly affected by the attacks, who had dozens of questions, we realized that prediction markets could give them the answers they needed in ways TV news and 𝕏 could not.

50% believe this announcement will come by April 30 while traders are giving this a 70% chance by May 31.

Dan Bilzerian Running for Congress in Florida to Unseat Randy Fine, Calls Him 'Fat Jew'

April 9, 2026 (11 am EDT)

Poker pro and multi-millionaire Dan Bilzerian is seeking to overtake Florida Republican Randy Fine's seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.  The district covers much of Daytona Beach, St. Augustine (southern part), Lake County and The Villages, among other areas.

"We get it, you’re a jew and you support America’s destruction to help your parasitic nation," lashed out at Fine via his Twitter feed.

Fine, a Jewish politician will attempt to retain the seat he won in a 2025 special election against a poker player who referred to him as a "fat Jew."

Bilzerian's vitriol towards Israel is well documented.

"I mean, I would sign up tomorrow and fucking put boots on the ground and kill Israelis.  That would be a great day for me.  I would fucking sign up on the draft waiver or whatever."

Poker pro Matt Matusow, who is Jewish, blasted Bilzerian.

"Look at this lowlife scumbag! Anyone in the poker world who associates with him should be blacklisted from ever playing again !"

Bilzerian added that "I truly believe that the majority of that country is evil and they are perpetuating a genocide."

Bilzerian has claimed that the U.S. is "controlled by Jewish pedophiles."

Rapper Shot Outside South Florida Casino Owed Detroit Casino $100K

April 9, 2026 (9:40 am EDT)

Reports began surfacing last Wednesday that rapper and former member of the Atlanta-based hip hop group Migos, Offset, was once sued by a Detroit casino for failure to pay a $100,000 debt.

TMZ.com first broke this news on Thursday.

According to a report TMZ published on Wednesday, April 8, the former Migos rapper has been sued by the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit. The venue's attorneys allege that Offset opened a $100,000 line of credit while he was playing at the casino in March 2024. After making numerous attempts to contact the artist about his debt, MotorCity decided to take it out of his account as part of their mutual agreement. Unfortunately, Offset didn't have enough money in his account to cover the entire fee.

"We are working toward a resolution," his rep told TMZ.

Offset is being sued for breach of contract, fraud, and other offenses.

Police are looking at mounting gambling debts owed to others as a possible motive for the Monday shooting of Offset outside a Hollywood, Florida casino.

A rapper known as Lil Tjay, Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested for an altercation that occurred just prior to the shooting at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino.

The Seminole Police Department in Florida said Lil Tjay was charged with disorderly conduct and operating a vehicle without a valid license at a location nearby the famed casino.  Lil Tjay did not have a weapon and was not charged in the shooting, according to his attorney.

His attorney responded to reports he had been arrested in connection with the actual shooting.

“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting which occurred at the Valet Area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood which resulting in non-life threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos.

"Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors.”

Police now believe an associate of Lil Tjay may be behind the shooting.

Offset is in stable condition at a nearby hospital.  He reportedly has since accused Lil Tjay of being involved in the shooting.

Offset rose to fame as part of Migos alongside Quavo and the late Takeoff, helping shape modern hip-hop with hits like “Versace,” “Bad and Boujee,” and “Walk It Talk It.” This incident comes years after Takeoff was fatally shot in 2022.

Nevada Regulator Addresses Prediction Markets in Greater Detail

April 9, 2026 (9:40 am EDT)

The chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Mike Dreitzer, says that tribes and states must stick together to fight an “existential threat” posed by prediction markets.

Appearing before the Indian Gaming Association conference in San Diego last week, Dreitzer said  “This is not right. It’s a workaround supported by private equity and it undermines every single thing we all know and believe in about the importance and safety of our industry,."

Nevada thus far has had some degree of success keeping prediction markets like Kalshi from operating in the state.

A Nevada judge last Friday moved to extend a ban on the prediction market Kalshi, citing regulators claims the company is operating without a proper gaming license to conduct business in the state.   Kalshi is licensed federally by the Commodity Future Trading Commission.

“It’s a gaming issue all over the United States and, frankly, as we’ve seen in some of the more recent news, all over the world,” Dreitzer said. “It’s very real, and there are very specific instances. You’ll see the potential for prediction-type slot machines and casino equipment. That’s quite possible. With Class II gaming, you have bingo and people with great ingenuity said, ‘Why don’t we offer it in a cabinet with an entertaining display?’ There’s something about our industry with respect to ingenuity and working on the cutting edge. That’s great. Sometimes it makes sense and sometimes, where there’s already established law, it doesn’t.”

Alabama Governor’s Race: Tommy Tuberville Gets $30,000 Donation From Controversial Gambling Company

April 8, 2026 (3:34 pm EDT)

In today's Alabama gambling news, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville received a series of big campaign donations last month but few were more controversial than the $150,000 from a Birmingham businessman and $30,000 from an online gambling company, VGW Luckyland Inc., a subsidiary of a huge Australian gambling company.

Alabama is one of only five states without a lottery. Gambling is illegal in the state and occurs only in facilities controlled by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

Just because gambling is illegal in Alabama now does not mean that it will be illegal forever,” said Robert Jarvis, professor of law at Nova Southeastern University in Florida, and an expert on gambling and sports law, in an interview with AL.com.

“VGW is looking to the future and hoping to buy good will with a candidate who may in the future be in a position to help change Alabama’s gambling laws.”

Tuberville has said he thinks a state lottery and gambling package should be handled by the legislature, not the governor.

Tuberville’s office did not respond to a request for comment about the contribution.
