Monday, 10:35 pm Eastern - TNT

Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals takes place on Monday as the Phoenix Suns host the San Antonio Spurs.  These two teams know each other well as the Spurs knocked the Suns out of the NBA Playoffs betting in 2005, 2007 and in 2008.  Phoenix head coach Alvin Gentry said that this team is different than the ones that lost in the past to San Antonio. "We've got plenty of guys that haven't even been around for any of those series," Gentry said, "so why talk about them, why go back, why revisit them? I don't see anything beneficial in any of that, really."

Phoenix is a 4.5 point favorite with a total of 203.5 at SBG Global.

Although some of the players remember the history of the series, many newcomers, including Jason Richardson do not. "That's not even part of who we are, what we're about," Richardson said. "That's in the past. The fans are still going to remember that, of course. But this is something different with a new team. We're a different team and we want to establish something new."

The Spurs still have their big three of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker.  One of the key matchups in the series will be Ginobili vs. Grant Hill. If the Suns are to win this series they will have to control Ginobili and Hill is their best defender. For the Spurs to win they have to get points from Richard Jefferson.  Tony Parker is still not fully healthy and Tim Duncan has seen better days.  Jefferson must contribute for the Spurs to keep pace with the Suns.

The Suns are the overall favorite in this series but the odds are close.  Phoenix is -140 to win the series at SBG Global.  The Suns have been a very good team all season.  In fact, they have not lost two games in a row since late January.

The Spurs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Conference Semifinals games. The Spurs are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 NBA Playoffs betting games as an underdog. The Suns are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 home games.

The Under is 6-0-1 in the Spurs last 7 overall. The Under is 13-3-2 in the Spurs last 18 games as a road underdog. The Under is 4-0 in the Suns last 4 overall.  The Over is 5-2 in the Suns last 7 home games. The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between the two teams.
