UVA Lacrosse Murder: Shook Head Repeatedly Against Wall

A lawyer for a University of Virginia men's lacrosse player charged with murder says the death was an accident.

Yeardley Love was found dead in her apartment yesterday morning. Hours later, George Huguely was arrested and charged with murder. Police say the two had been in a relationship but investigators plan to interview fellow players and friends about the nature of the relationship.  

According to a search warrant affidavit, Love, 22, "was unresponsive and did not respond to rescue attempts. The victim's pillow was covered in blood and she had a large bruise on the side of her face which appeared to be caused by blunt force trauma. Her right eye was swollen shut and she had bruises and cuts on her chin. The door to her bedroom had been forced open by what appeared to be a fist punching through the door."

Another affidavit claims that Huguely, who's also 22, acknowledged that he and Yeardley Love had been in a relationship that ended.  He also stated that he removed her computer from the room after their "altercation".  During the "altercation", Hugely claims that he shook her and "her head repeatedly hit the wall."

Police have collected DNA samples from both the victim and the assailant.
