A woman who self-banned herself from gambling in casinos found herself being escorted out of one Pennsylvania gambling venue....but only after she won a jackpot.
According to a public information release from the Pennsylvania State Police, troopers were dispatched to the Hollywood Casino at Penn National in East Hanover Township shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.
After reviewing information, troopers said they confirmed that the 69-year-old woman from Asbury, New Jersey, who was not named, had given herself a self-imposed lifetime ban from casinos in 2019.
She was then escorted out the casino.
It is not immediately clear if the woman was able to keep her winnings or the amount of the jackpot won.
The Council of Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania notes that individuals on the self-exclusion list can opt for one year, five years or a lifetime ban. The self-exclusions do not expire.
Casinos are required to prevent such individuals from gambling at their establishments. The individuals are also supposed to be denied their winnings.
Over 20,000 people had enrolled in Pennsylvania's casino self-exclusion programs as of June 2023.
