The 2026 FIFA World Cup will play games in 16 cities across North America, including the United States, Canada and Mexico.
There have been six different World Cup Champions this century with no repeat winners.
The marketing team at BetOnline.ag created an infomap based on geotagged X data over the last 30 days, which tracked tweets, hashtags and direct keyword phrases about who fans in the United States, Canada and Mexico picked to win the 2026 World Cup.
For example, tweets containing phrases and hashtags such as "Messi will win another World Cup," "England will win the World Cup," “France is the team to beat,” "#LaRoja will be champs," etc. were used to compile the data.
More than 2.5 million tweets were collected and geo-analyzed in the study.
As you can see from the map, only two states believe USMNT can actually pull off a massive World Cup upset. Their odds are 100/1 for a reason, I guess.
Additionally, Canada thinks France will win and Mexico thinks Spain will win.

And here's the USA state-by-state breakdown, along with Canada and Mexico (also, I put each country’s World Cup odds in parenthesis):
Argentina (10/1): Arkansas, Florida, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina
Brazil (10/1): Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York
England (8/1): Alaska, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Utah, Vermont, Washington
France (5/1): Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Canada
Germany (16/1): Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin
Portugal (9/1): Hawaii, Oregon, Rhode Island
Spain (5/1): Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Wyoming, Mexico
