A popular South Korean comedian has been indicted for habitual online gambling since 2020 and driving with a 0.12% blood alcohol level
Lee became widely known for his performances on the long-running comedy program Comedy Big League
South Korean Comedian Lee Jin-ho is under self-restraint over illegal online gambling activity dating back to 2020 as well as driving under the influence.
The drunk diving incident happened on May 26. His blood alcohol level was said to be 0.12%. The Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office Yeoju Branch indicted Lee.
Prosecutors stated that Lee is accused of driving approximately 100 km from Incheon to his home in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, just east of Seoul, in an intoxicated state in the early hours of September 24 last year.
The indictment also references the online gambling activity, to which Lee has already confessed to.
"I engaged in illegal online gambling from 2020,” he said, but claims to have since halted these activities.
Lee became widely known for his performances on the long-running comedy program Comedy Big League playing various recurring characters.
In April, Lee collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage at his home while continuing his self-restraint and underwent emergency surgery. After treatment in the intensive care unit, Lee regained consciousness and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.
He also appeared on several Korean variety shows, including Knowing Bros (Ask Us Anything).
