South Africa vs. Canada World Cup Match
Sunday June 28, 2026 (8:35 am EDT)
It's been crazy around here with the FIFA World Cup in full swing but Sunday we get a bit of a breather with just one match - South Africa vs. Canada. It's a good one as one of these two teams will either advance or go home, or, in the case of Canada, stay home since they are one of the three host nations. Canada, however, is a pretty big -380 favorite here while South Africa would pay out close to US$300 for every US$100 bet to win. Canada looked dangerous going forward, especially in the Qatar blowout, but the Switzerland loss kept them from winning the group. The host country certainly had the stronger attacking group stage while South Africa showed more of a defensive profile. South Africa recovered well after the opening loss and advanced by grinding out results, including a huge win over South Korea. Jonathan David pays US$410 for every US$100 bet to score the first goal in this match. Cyle Larin pays US$460 and both Tajon Buchanan and Alphonso Davies pays US$750 for every US$100 bet.

Representative Julia Letlow Heavy Favorite to Win GOP Runoff Primary in Louisiana
Sunday June 28, 2026 (8:35 am EDT)
Representative Julia Letlow was the heavy favorite to defeat state Treasurer John Fleming in the Republican Louisiana Senate runoff election this weekend. The oddsmakers at BetOnline showed Letlow as a -500, or 1/5, favorite over Fleming (3/1). And Letlow indeed walked away with the victory. Traffic here at Gambling911.com for this race was third highest of any primary betting coverage outside of the California Mayoral race and the Virginia redistricting special elections, we can now report. 21,840 impressions were recorded, a significant number considering the lopsided nature of this race. The hours leading up to the rare weekend primary had Letlow with around an 87% chance of winning.

Prediction Markets Do Not See a Final US-Iran Nuclear Deal Any Time Soon
Sunday June 28, 2026 (8:35 am EDT)
Just a quarter of traders at prediction markets believe the US and Iran will enter into a final nuclear deal prior to September 30 while only 45% see this happening by December 31. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the Strait of Hormuz remains under total Iranian control for the next 30 days and any US attacks will only exacerbate the precarious situation. Chance of the Strait of Hormuz traffic getting back to normal by July 31 sat at just 35%. The US bombed Iran for a second day hitting Qeshm Island and the cities of Sirik and Bandar-e Lengeh after a drone attack on a commercial vessel near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran says it has launched retaliatory attacks on US forces in Bahrain and Kuwait and warns of a “crushing response” to further strikes. US President Donald Trump has accused Iran of violating the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran and threatened to “militarily complete the job”.
