With a victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina Thursday night, the United States Men's National Team has reached an unprecedented level of respect at the sportsbook.
USMNT currently has 25/1 odds to win the 2026 World Cup at BetOnline.ag.
This is the lowest odds they've ever had in eight World Cups during the past 25 years (according to BetOnline's historical odds database).
The previous odds record came before of the 2006 World Cup when USMNT carried 30/1 odds behind a team expected to make a deep run, but that ultimately failed to make it out of the Group Stage.
Prior to Wednesday's match, the U.S. had 33/1 odds to take home the coveted FIFA trophy. Here's a timeline of their odds throughout the tourney:
USMNT World Cup Champion Odds
Pre-Tournament - 100/1
After Paraguay - 45/1
After Australia - 33/1
After Turkey - 33/1
After Bosnia - 25/1
USMNT's current odds of 25/1 equate to approximately a 3.8% implied win probability, so there's still a long way to go for the "Why not US" believers. But doesn't it seem fitting to have that number just before America's 250th birthday? Perhaps this is a team of destiny.
In their next match on July 6, USMNT is a slight favorite over Belgium.
Which team will advance?
Belgium +105
United States -125
