Teen Girl Accused of Stabbing Three Horses at Las Vegas Casino Could Be Tried as Adult
  • Decision won't be made as to whether juvenile can be certified as adult in horrifying horse stabbings at South Point Casino in May

  • In June, the teen’s lawyer said that she had a “mental health history that was significant" but police also identified the minor female as a "competitor" in the National Barrel Horse Association’s Professional’s Choice Las Vegas Super Show that brought the horses to the casino

A decision to certify a 17-year-old accused of stabbing three horses during the 2026 National Barrel Horse Association’s Professional’s Choice Las Vegas Super Show held at the South Point Hotel and Casino in late May has been pushed back to August 19.

The girl, who has yet to be identified, did not appear in court.  Her attorney appeared on her behalf.

In June, the teen’s lawyer said that she had a “mental health history that was significant.” Her lawyer also told the court that the teen denied the charges.

But police identified the juvenile as a "competitor".  She was ordered to remain in custody after she was arrested following the stabbings.

All three horses survived the incident.

South Point Casino has previously been featured on the pages of Gambling911.com after a viral video showed a horrified Clydesdale horse being marched through the venue's hallway.  The obviously traumatized horse then kicks someone in the hallway.

The 2026 National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) Professional's Choice Las Vegas Super Show is one of the premier barrel racing events in the United States. It brings together hundreds of riders and horses from across North America to compete for prize money, awards, and NBHA qualification points.
