ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey (Gambling911.com) - The Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City will be closed Monday following a small fire and water leak that forced an evacuation of the venue earlier in the day.
Atlantic City Fire Department crews responded to the casino for a fire some time around 5:30 a.m. Monday morning. The fire was contained to a linens room but while putting out the blaze, a pipe burst and flooded portions of the building.
The water caused part of the ceiling in the lobby to collapse and also affected some hallways and elevators.
No one was hurt, the fire department said.
It was later revealed that the leak affected the building's gaming support systems, thus prompting the casino to shut down entirely.
A slot tournament scheduled for 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday was also canceled.
The hotel, restaurants, pools and other amenities remain open. Avila Lounge relocated to TopGolf for the day.
The fire is under investigation.
It was not immediately known when gaming would resume.
Little Caesars Pizza has an ownership stake in the property.
