Jodar won 7-6 (5), 6-3 over Arthur Fils in the quarterfinals of Montreal on Tuesday.

Jodar got the better of the No. 24-ranked Frenchman in straight sets for the second tournament in a row as he advanced into the semifinals after one hour and 42 minutes on court. The rapidly-rising Spaniard is now projected to rise to a new career-high ranking of No. 11 in the world next week.

It marks the first Masters 1000 semifinal for the 25-year-old American, who is projected to rise to a new career-high ranking of No. 25 in the world.
