What started off as a Washington State investigation has now turned into a full US federal probe.

US authorities are looking into the Las Vegas casinos to determine if they are engaging in advertising and tournament arrangements directly with the online poker rooms.

Washington State first launched the investigation in an effort to gain more information about the online poker ventures targeting their state.  It is the only state in the US which makes placing a wager online a Class C felony.

Harrah's in particular has entered into numerous sponsorship deals with Internet poker rooms through its World Series of Poker tournament.
