VANCOUVER, BC (Gambling911.com) - A Sturgeon Falls man is in custody following a robbery and assault at the Cascades Casino in Langley, British Columbia early Thursday morning.
Paul Joseph Phillion, 44-year-old, is accused of stealing money from a casino employee and also damaging property.
Per the North Bay Nugget
"On August 13th, just after midnight, a lone-male entered the Cascades Casino brandishing two weapons. The male attended the gaming floor and proceeded to damaged property, and then struck an employee several times. The male continued to do damage to the casino by smashing a slot machine and a computer. The male then demanded money from an employee. The employee complied, and as the male was leaving the casino, he was confronted by members of the North Bay Police Service. The accused ran back into the building and smashed a window in order to escape. The accused was arrested immediately by police."
A subsequent search of the individual revealed a set of brass knuckles on his person.
The charges are extensive and include the following:
· Robbery with Violence
· Assault With a Weapon X 2
· Assault X 2
· Mischief Over $5000
· Mischief Under $5000 X 5
· Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
· Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
· Carry Concealed Weapon
· Cause a Disturbance
· Fail to Comply with Weapons Prohibition Order X 2
The accused was held in custody, pending a bail hearing.
