Paul won 4-6, 7-6 (6), 6-4 over Alexander Zverev in the fourth round of Cincinnati on Wednesday.

He notched his best win of the season so far as he upset the No. 3-ranked German in three sets after two hours and 51 minutes on court to make the quarterfinals. It marks the third win of the season for the 29-year-old American against a top-10 opponent. 

Paul will play No. 7 seed Cobolli (0-1 H2H) in the quarters.

Cobolli is an Italian professional tennis player. He has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 9 achieved on 13 July 2026 and a doubles ranking of No. 185, achieved on 28 July 2025. Cobolli has won three ATP Tour singles titles and was the runner-up at the 2026 French Open.

He won 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3 over Rafael Jodar in the fourth round of Cincinnati on Wednesday.

Cobolli earned yet another three-set win at this Masters 1000 tournament as he battled past the No. 11-ranked Spaniard to reach the quarterfinals after two hours and 32 minutes on court. The 24-year-old Italian advances to his first quarterfinal since Wimbledon.
