The state of Connecticut sued Kalshi on Thursday to block alleged unlicensed sports gambling offered by the online betting platform, the Office of the Attorney General said. State Attorney General William Tong said that’s gambling — making it subject to Connecticut consumer protection laws. Only three entities are licensed to operate sports betting in the state: the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, the Mohegan Tribe, and the Connecticut Lottery Corporation. They partner with sites like FanDuel and DraftKings, which is why those sites are allowed in Connecticut. Tong accused Kalshi of operating an unlicensed sports betting operation in Connecticut, and is seeking a court injunction to force them to stop.
