OAKLAND PARK, Fla (Gambling911.com) - This one, some would say, was like taking candy from a baby.
Dave Mason of BetOnline let the world know as early as Wednesday that sharps were all over Michigan despite the public eating up Oklahoma.
Mason noted that, on X, Oklahoma was the most popular bet of the weekend by far, and that there were "just over two times more tickets on the Sooner spread than the number of spread bets on #1 Ohio State and #4 Texas combined."
Some of the bets on the Sooners were even coming from - GULP - Michigan. Of course, these could be angry Western Michigan Broncos fans.
Looking at the most up-to-date numbers Friday morning, there were 4x more bets on the Sooners-Wolverines game than there are on the Longhorns-Buckeyes game, with Oklahoma the -5 point favorite.
"The masses are betting Oklahoma like they are the USA men's World Cup team of somethin'," he said via X on Friday morning.
"77% of the tickets are on the Sooners (-5). Extremely high bet count. Small print: money much closer - about 54% of cash on Oklahoma."
Michigan was well on their way to winning Saturday, though only down by 7 approaching the final two minute warning.
And at 4th down and seven, Oklahoma went for it. The Sooners turned it over on downs.
The game would have been over with the first down but Oklahoma had one more chance in the final minute and fourteen seconds.
This was a signature win for the Wolverines.
