All the talk these days, especially in North America, centers around prediction markets when it comes to the online gambling sector.
Platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket are at odds with more than a dozen US states and they've also run afoul of other jurisdictions worldwide.
Brazil's federal government blocked the two platforms in April. Spain ordered ISPs to block both sites on May 26. South Korea moved to block access to Polymarket last month. France and India each want the two prediction markets restricted in their respective countries.
This is all good news for blockchain-based casinos, which are - for now at least - able to fly under the radar as prediction markets continue to distract regulators. A blockchain online casino utilize blockchain technology for some or all aspects of its platform.
Key components include crypto deposits and withdrawals. They are provably fair, and all bets, as well as payouts, are recorded on a blockchain. These are sometimes referred to as smart contracts. Often you will see the term decentralized casinos used. The latter refers to the lack of a traditional casino operator controlling every transaction.
Typically, a No-KYC crypto casino allows someone to create an account and gamble without initially submitting a driver's license/passport, proof of address or other identitying documents. That eases the registration process, however, for security concerns, some or all of these documents may be required at the time of a payout request.
True wallet/on-chain casinos can potentially operate with very little personal information as all transactions occur through blockchain addresses or smart contracts.
Some of these blockchain casinos are becoming major players in the online gambling sector. The industry reportedly took in around $327 billion in 2025, up from $293 billion in 2024.
Stake.com is widely regarded today as one of the world's largest web gambling ventures. The company claims to operate in 169 countries. Stake.com has expanded beyond being "crypto only" to support direct local-currency deposits in certain countries, including card deposits in supported currencies/locations. Euros and the Canadian dollar are widely accepted at Stake.
BC.Game is another major player in the crypto gambling sector. They, too, have branched out in some countries to accept other types of currencies besides crypto.
Stake has partnered with recording artist Drake as a means of driving up its profile while BC.Game sponsors various e-Sports teams.
Despite promoting themselves to some extent as "No-KYC", both prohibit access from specified countries, including the US.
CoinPoker is another player fast gaining market share in the blockchain-based online casino space.
As the name implies, this site focuses almost exclusively on the poker market.
Until recently, CoinPoker did permit those from the US to access their site. That changed in June of this year with the updating of the company's Terms & Conditions, which now explicitly lists the United States and its territories/dependencies as a “Restricted Territory.” Interestingly, Gambling911.com can verify that access from the United States is not blocked during the signup process.
CoinPoker remains primarily crypto-oriented: it accepts USDT, USDC, BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, POL and TRX, and it advertises email registration without initial KYC.
While a crypto casino can technically serve gamblers in the US quite easily, doing so has the potential to expose the operator, payment partners, executives and affiliates to substantial legal and regulatory risk.
2027 should be a big year for other players in the sector as well.
