Brazil Sets December Deadline for Former Betting Operators to Return Customer Funds

Friday October 9, 2026 (8:56 am EDT)

Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA), part of the Ministry of Finance, has introduced new requirements for companies whose betting authorizations have ended. Ordinance No. 3,005/2026, published on October 2, 2026, establishes deadlines for returning customers’ remaining funds and settling liabilities from their operating period.  The country banned online gambling ahead of the upcoming elections in a move that shocked the industry as it was among the largest worldwide markets.

There is, however, a glimmer of good news for the industry coming into Friday as Stake Brazil has resumed online betting after securing a temporary court injunction. The decision protects Stake until October 25, but the judge rejected its request to continue operating until 2029. Stake warns that Brazil's betting ban could drive gamblers toward illegal operators.

Chris Gallant Odds to Win New York-01 Long Island Congressional Race Following BDSM Revelations

Friday October 9, 2026 (8:56 am EDT)

"Make Politics Sexy Again" is the slogan Congressional hopeful Chris Gallant is pushing after photos taken 15 years ago surfaced last month showing him modeling for San Francisco fetish brand Mr. S Leather.  He's the underdog in the New York 0-1 race that would have him representing a good portion of Long Island with a win.  The payout is $400 for every $100 bet as Nick Lalota (R) comes in as the -520 favorite at BetOnline.  As TMZ previously reported, Gallant has already leaned into the BDSM reveal ... joking it could be his "Kim Kardashianmoment," saying he makes "Christian Grey look like amateur hour" and rolling out a "Make Politics Sexy Again" campaign ad.  His message now is pretty simple ... what he did in the bedroom 15 years ago has nothing to do with what he can do in D.C.   While this article failed to gain much traction on Thursday, a bit of a surge in readership came to the Gambling911.com website Friday morning.
