ST LOUIS (Gambling911.com) - A St. Louis area man has been charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
Court documents allege that Ronell L. Williams, 36, followed a woman home from the Casino Queen in East St. Louis after she won $3,203 on the slot machines. She left and started to drive home, crossing the Eads Bridge and turning onto Lumiere Place.
Williams allegedly followed her in a maroon car, motioned for the woman to roll her window down. He then told her that the muffler on her car was hanging off.
When the woman did not pull over, court documents allege that Williams continued to follow her and veered into her lane, forcing her off the road. She then pulled over to confront Williams.
Court documents state that Williams then pulled out a gun and told the woman to give him her money.
The court documents further claim that Williams can be seen monitoring the woman while inside the casino. He is then seen entering the maroon vehicle.
East St. Louis has a longstanding reputation for high violent crime, poverty and economic decline.
The casino itself is generally considered to be safe with the surrounding area primarily industrial and riverfront property. The property maintains security officers inside the casino, hotel and parking areas, according to its official website. The casino is also home to a DraftKings branded sportsbook.
