PHILADELPHIA (Gambling911.com) - BetOnline was expected to release updated futures odds for the Philadelphia Eagles and the NFC East with news breaking Monday morning that Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will be out for the remainder of this season.
Hurts will undergo treatment for multiple blood clots found in Hurts lungs that will take at least three months, according to Ian Rapoport of ESPN.
Hurts' agent, Nicole Lynn, and the Eagles released a statement Monday detailing Hurts' medical status.
Hurts is "clinically stable and has no significant functional limitations," according to the statement from Lynn and the Eagles, but will not be allowed to participate in football activities while on anticoagulation medication.
After initially being diagnosed with a superficial clot in his calf, Hurts underwent further examination that revealed "a deep vein thrombosis, as well as bilateral pulmonary emboli," according to the statement.
"Jalen's prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery," the statement said. "We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners. In the meantime, he will remain active around the team and continue to condition. More importantly, we anticipate that he will have no long-term effects."
The Philadelphia Eagles have seen their futures odds plunge following Monday's news that quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the remainder of the 2026 season.
Eagles futures odds — October 19, 2026
Betting market Before Latest reported
Super Bowl LXI winner +4000 +15000
NFC East winner Previously third in division odds +550
Make playoffs Not confirmed +460
At +15000, a $100 wager would return $15,000 in profit if Philadelphia won the Super Bowl, compared with $4,000 at +4000. We should note that those odds were already in place two weeks prior to Monday's news as the Eagles were already struggling.
Some books had Philadelphia at +9000 on October 19 ahead of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers, while Hurts' extended absence was still uncertain.
The NFC East has yet to have a standout team. The Eagles will still have some value to win the division, especially with odds expected to get much longer.
