South Africa and Mexico kick off the World Cup 2010 with odds that would have Mexico paying US$15 for every US$10 bet and South Africa paying US$16.50.

Odds of Mexico to win the World Cup 2010 would pay out US$7000 for every US$100 bet or US$700 for every US$10 bet.

The host team South Africa pays 90/1 odds or US$9000 for every US$100 bet.

For South Africa, much will depend on Friday's opening match against Mexico, a team that has enjoyed an encouraging buildup, and the ensuing momentum that a win would generate. "The South African team have no choice. They have to improve. They have good players and a good coach. They have to show their real face, to show they are good players, to show an African country can do well here," Algerian star Rabah Madjer told the Guardian.

Mexico is playing in its 14th World Cup.  They have never won. The furthest Mexico has gotten is the quarter-final stage on the two occasions they hosted the finals, in 1970 and 1986. They have been knocked out at the second round stage in the last four tournaments.

Should Mexico knock off the host nation, they have a solid chance to make the final 16.

Under coach Clive Barker, South Africa won the 1996 African Nations Cup and then qualified for their first World Cup at France ‘98.

Expectations are not high for South Africa when it comes to winning, but they must get out of their group, which includes Mexico and France.

"We have to do well, we need to get to the quarter-final", captain Aaron Mokoena stated.

South Africa is said to lack physical imposing players and endurance.

You can bet on which team will win Group A at SBG Global:

France -135, requires a US$13.50 bet to win US$10.

Mexico +350, pays US$35 for every US$10 bet

Uruguay +365 pays US36.50 for every US$10 bet.

South Africa +600 pays US$60 for every US$10 bet.
