The much talked about "Law of the Donkey" relates to citizen's revenge in South American counties, including behind bars.  Joran van der Sloot must have been reading Gambling911.com and the comments made by readers in regard to the horrible conditions of Peru prisons.

The Dutchman has confessed to the killing of a young college student, Stephany Flores, in a Lima, Peru hotel room registered under his name.  Van der Sloot was attending the Latin American Poker Tour at the time of the murder.

The now terrified van der Sloot has reportedly offered to show authorities the whereabouts of Natalee Holloway's remains in exchange for his serving time in an Aruba prison.  He was the prime suspect in Holloway's 2005 disappearance from that island nation but has never been charged.

"I am afraid I will be killed," he reportedly told authorities in Peru.  We are afraid he is probably right.

For now, authorities have placed van der Sloot in an isolated jail cell for his own safety.

Officials at the high-security Miguel Castro prison in Lima, where Van Der Sloot awaits trial, say he has requested security measures to keep him safe from those who might want to rape and/or kill him, according to his defense attorney.

This is one of the most notorious prisons in South America with conditions said to be "inhumane".
