There was quite a lot of demand for betting on the 2010 Wimbledon Final set and how many games, over/under with the longest tennis match ever having been played Wednesday.

Dave Stanley's Sportsbook.com was quick to release odds on American John Isner and Nicolas Mahut of France by late afternoon Wednesday.

"This provides quite an interesting betting opportunity for folks," Stanley tells Gambling911.com, and a supplement to the 2010 World Cup betting action no doubt.

Leave it up to Mahut to bring some semblance of respectability back to France sports following an embarrassing departure of the French soccer team in South Africa.

Stanley's book had the OVER/UNDER at 132 ½ games.  Some online bookmakers were posting lines as high as 150 games.

Paul Majendle of Rueters writes:

Their first-round match at Wimbledon has lasted more than 9½ hours, shattering the previous record by three hours.
Isner and Mahut are tied 59-59 in the final set and will head into the third day of play. The players have battled through 163 games and a pair of tiebreaks.

"The quality of tennis may not have reached such superb heights of artistry but, whatever the result on day three, the sheer guts and staggering stamina of Isner and Mahut will live long in the memory for everyone lucky enough to be there."

Mahut and Isner were both at -120 odds to win at Sportsbook.com.
