With the Netherlands vs. Slovakia World Cup game getting underway Monday, most gamblers are backing Holland but Slovakia might be worth a close look.

Netherlands vs. Slovakia World Cup odds had Holland as the big -230 favorite, requiring a US$23 bet placed to win US$10 (the $23 is refunded assuming the Netherlands wins).  Slovakia would pay out US$72.50 for every US$10 bet.

In some circles, the Netherlands are seen as the team to beat at this year's World Cup.  They had odds of winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup outright set at 7/1 or +700.

Don't count out Slovakia though as this is the team that knocked out the reigning World Cup champions, Italy.

"Anyone who watched that Slovakia-Italy match knows that the Slovakians were the better team. And while they might not be the better team overall on Monday, they'll emerge victorious," predicts Aaron Torres of BetUS.com.

At +725 odds, there is definitely value on placing at least a small bet on Slovakia.

Amazingly, even with these great odds placed on Slovakia, the overwhelming majority of bettors are backing the Netherlands at around an 85 percent clip.
