Lebron James Cleveland

The folks from Sportsbetting.com have made Lebron James a lofty -250 favorite to remain in Cleveland Wednesday following news that he will hold a one hour long press conference on ESPN Thursday night at 9 pm EST.

Pundits appearing on ESPN Wednesday suggested that James would not have scheduled such an elaborate conference to announce he is going elsewhere.

"That would be maniacal on his part," said one commentator, claiming the media event under such circumstances will essentially be seen as "sticking it" to the people of Cleveland (and the rest of the state for that matter).

James will announce his future NBA plans within the first 10 minutes of the 9 p.m. ET special, ESPN said.

Much of the discussion on Wednesday honed in on the Miami Heat with news that Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will both be playing there next season.  Miami was slashed from +200 odds to -150 Wednesday afternoon paying slightly less than even odds.

It appeared at press time that James was less likely to land in Chicago (one of the favored teams for the past two months).  His odds there would pay out $15 for every $10 bet.

There was a lot of buzz on the Net Wednesday that James would end up in New York playing for the Knicks.  His odds of going there were now better than Chicago's, paying even money.

The Knicks talk surfaced following Phoenix Sun forward Jared Dudley writing on this Twitter page that Lebron James was heading to New York.

"Breaking News!!! My sources tell me Lebron will announce that he will be goin to the NY KNICKS tomorrow on ESPN.. This is serious.. WOW!!!!"

Prior to Wednesday the Knicks had been relative long shots to snatch up Lebron.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
