The latest 2010 British Open odds following Day 1 of play had Rory McIlroy slashed from double digits to just under 3/1 (+275) at Sportsbetting.com (see website here)

McIlroy was all the rage coming into this year’s British Open (also known as the Open Championship) with gamblers betting heavy on the young Irishman.

McIlroy tied the major championship record Thursday by shooting a 9-under 63 in the opening round of The Open Championship at St. Andrews. He sat atop the leader board by the end of Day 1 play.

Oddsmakers also were weary of Tiger Woods making a run and slashed his odds from 5/1 to slightly longer than 3/1.

Woods was among the top 15 on the leader board coming into Friday.
