Prior to becoming a lead suspect in the murder of Peruvian college student Stephany Flores, a filmmaker was in the process of making a fictional movie based on Dutchman Joran van der Sloot and the disappearance of Natalee Hollway from Aruba in 2005.
Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reports that the movie "Me & Mr. Jones," by Dutch filmmaker Paul Ruven, tells the fictional story of an undercover journalist trying to solve the Holloway case.
Ruven was reportedly shooting the film on the island of Aruba without much fanfare due to the sensitivity of the Holloway case there.
The murder of Flores will be incorporated into the film. Van der Sloot confessed to the murder and was video taped with the woman in a casino the night of the murder. He was also seen bringing her up to his hotel room. The Dutchman was in Lima to follow the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT).
Me & Mr. Jones stars Dutch actors Robert de Hoog and Hanna Verboom. It is unclear whether the film will be distributed in the U.S. where Ms. Holloway was born and where the van der Sloot case (both related to Holloway and Flores) has been extensively uncovered.
The film is set to be released early in 2011.
