Phil Ivey and Tom Durrrr Dwan Clean Up on Full Tilt Poker
Who wants to be a millionaire, in 14 days or less? Essentially, top poker pros, Tom “Durrrr” Dwan and Phil Ivey each accomplished the feat over the past 2 weeks, posting massive earnings at the Full Tilt Poker High Stakes cash games.
For Phil Ivey, it’s been a tremendous summer for the man widely regarded as the best poker player on the planet. He won yet another World Series of Poker bracelet, making it 3 in two years, and though he hasn’t quite played heavy volume online in recent weeks, the quality of his sessions have been flat out astonishing. This week, in a scant four days, Ivey’s winnings are just a shade under $1 million.
He started off his run in a single monster session on Sunday night against a virtual unknown with the name Luukie21 at the capped $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha tables. The two settled in for 3 hours and played 615 hands. When the dust settled, Ivey emerged with over $670K in profits. After having a quiet Monday and Tuesday, last night, Iveys game of choice was $2000/$4000 Limit Hold em against IHateJuice. The two of them played for over two hours and about 500 hands and Ivey took him for a little under $150K, bringing him close to the magical million dollar mark for the week.
It was a profitable fortnight for Dwan as well. First, he crushed foe Patrik Antonius to the tune of $460K as part of the never-ending Durrrr challenge. However, he also diversified his profits portfolio against a roster of players including Niki Jedlicka, Jani Vilmunen, and Luukie21. He alternated between heads up $100/$200 No Limit Hold ‘em and 6-max $100/$200 Pot Limit Omaha and fared quite well in each. He has reportedly netted over $1 Million in under a week, including the Antonius money.
Let’s see if the fireworks can continue throughout the rest of the summer heat.
