PartyGaming has said it plans on playing an active role in the consolidation process in online gambling over the next year following its planned merger with Austrian sports betting power house bwin and the opportunity for entry into the lucrative U.S. market.

The firm is pushing its newly-regulated territories such as France while getting set to launch its Dutch playing platform.

Last week, one of Party’s main competitors, 888.com, announced it too would be focused on the acquisition front.

Numis analyst Wyn Ellis said the key opportunities for the group included industry consolidation and European markets while it awaits legislation to pas in the U.S..

"Momentum is also gradually gathering behind regulation in the US... There are plenty of promising opportunities on the horizon." he added.
