The 2010 PGA Championship odds have been updated at betED.com (see website here).

The big news is that, for the first time in a major golf tournament since online betting on the sport became available, Tiger Woods does not open as the favorite.

Woods comes in with 12/1 or +1200 odds to win the 2010 PGA Championship.

“The payout is $120 on a $10 bet and yes Gambling911.com believes there is some value in Tiger Woods here despite his poor performance this past week,” says Don Shapiro of the G911 website.

The favorite honors go to Phil Mickelson, who was listed at 10/1 or +1000.

USA TODAY sports analyst Danny Sheridan said the odds on Woods should be even higher, based on his play. "But if the oddsmakers offered fair or huge odds on Woods, most people would bet on him and they don't like to take that risk," he said.

“They are though,” says Shapiro, pointing out that 12/1 is unprecedented for Woods.  “Typically 50 percent or more of those betting on major golf tournaments put their money on Woods, at least folks living in the U.S.”

Woods has seen longer odds, but only after two days of poor play deep into an “in progress” tournament.

“Even when he’s down quite a bit it is rare to see him longer than 12/1 coming into a Saturday or Day 3 let alone opening at that number,” Shapiro says.

"In major tournaments, no matter what you've seen of Tiger lately, it's hard to bet against the guy," said Anthony Kim, who played with Woods in the final round of Bridgestone. "The old Tiger could show up anytime."

And this is what the bookmakers are not hoping for.
