The Commonwealth of Kentucky is suing PartyGaming for past illegal gambling operations with its residents.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky on Wednesday has named PartyGaming along with Pocket Kings, software provider for Full Tilt Poker, in its suit against the online gambling sector.  This is the first time that PartyGaming has specifically been named in a lawsuit filed by a U.S. government branch since leaving the market in October 2006.  Pocket Kings had previously been named in the Kentucky suit, however, Party was added as part of an amended complaint obtained exclusively by Gambling911.com late Wednesday.

The amended complaint in regard to PartyGaming only covers the period 2005 through 2006.

Party has also been negotiating with federal officials in the U.S. to re-enter the market should legislation pass making online poker legal.

PartyGaming’s shares rose significantly two weeks ago after announcing a proposed merger with Austria sports betting powerhouse Bwin.
