Originally scheduled to take place Tuesday evening, the much anticipated Brett Favre press conference will now be held around 11 am Wednesday morning.  All indications suggest that Favre will play for the Minnesota Vikings this upcoming season after weeks of speculation.  The online gambling website Sportsbetting.com offered odds on the Vikings winning the NFC Championship at 6/1 as of Tuesday evening.

The 40-year-old quarterback met with team officials in Minnesota on Tuesday.

According to Fox Sports, Favre told three Vikings players that he intended to play for the team this coming season.

While the desire is still there to play, concerns over an ailing ankle prompted Favre to consider his NFL future more carefully once again this summer.

"Circus in Winter Park," tight end Visanthe Shiancoe tweeted.

Favre's website posted a message earlier saying "stay tuned for breaking news from the Minnesota Vikings today on Brett Favre's possible return."

"Brett Favre for President!!" receiver Bernard Berrian tweeted.

Presumably, Favre did not make the trip just to tell the Vikings he was retiring, ESPN.com suggests.

“Many sports bettors have been sitting on the fence waiting to see what Brett Favre does,” Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com said in regard to any betting on the Vikings future outcome.  “The online sportsbooks that opted to offer odds for the NFC North division mostly had Minnesota and the Green Bay Packers as co-favorites to win.”

Favre will turn 41 in October and has flirted with retirement for years while playing for the Green Bay Packers, the New York Jets and now the Vikings.
