There was still time to bet on the Miss Universe 2010 competition though time was ticking down to the wire with the live airing Monday night. Odds were available at SBG Global here.
As of press time Monday evening there were three tight favorites: Miss Mexico, Miss Russia and Miss Ireland. While a few online gambling websites featured Miss Ireland as the lone favorite, SBG Global had her at +750 with a payout potential of US$75 on every US$10 bet. Miss Mexico and Miss Russia were the co-favorites there at 7/1 odds.
Miss USA and Miss Venezuela were also listed with +750 odds. A win by Miss Venezuela Marelisa Gibson to become the new Miss Universe would mean the first time a country has taken the crown in three consecutive years.
Miss Columbia had entered into single digit odds by Monday at +900 or 9/1 as did Miss Philippines.
Miss Australia was at 12/1 odds.
Miss Brazil and Miss Trinidad & Tobago were both at 15/1 odds.
Miss Puerto Rico was at 16/1 odds.
Some recent winners entered the competition as big double digit long shots, including the reigning Miss Universe 2009, Miss Venezuela and Miss Japan, who took the crown two years prior.
