Reggie Bush Heisman Trophy

With reports that Reggie Bush had accepted “improper benefits” while at USC, sources close to The Heisman Trophy Trust claimed to Yahoo! Sports that the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner will soon be stripped of his trophy.

The Trust on Tuesday night denied such reports.

The president of the Heisman Trophy Trust, William J. Dockery, reiterated that the reports were inaccurate.

"The status of the USC/Bush matter remains unchanged. Any reports to the contrary are inaccurate," Dockery said.

This is prompting the oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com to consider offering odds on when and if Bush will ultimately have his Heisman Trophy stripped.

“Sportsbook.com is always on top of these types of sports betting prop stories,” said Carrie Stroup, the Senior Reporter for Gambling911.com and a representative for Sportsbook.com.  “The oddsmakers will be discussing flexibility in terms of whether bets can be offered on this event.  Initially, it seemed like a given but Mr. Dockery has cast some doubt on the story.”

Typically, Sportsbook.com would offer odds on an event happening by month’s end, but even with the Trust’s denial that Bush has been stripped of the trophy, the investigation appears as if it could conclude before the 30th.   In recent months, Sportsbook.com has witnessed voluminous betting on such props as what team Lebron James would ultimately play for.

In addition to being part of the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl winning team this year, Bush also gained notoriety for his fling with Kim Kardashian.

“The oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com certainly had fun with that one, offering odds on such props as whether the Saints would score more points that Kardashian’s waist line.”

ESPN's Chris Fowler told "SportsCenter" that informal conversations have taken place regarding Bush's Heisman but that, "they certainly have not made any decision" about rescinding it.

"They haven't made a decision. No announcement is imminent," Fowler said Tuesday. "They have not had any formal meetings about this."

Dockery stated that the Heisman Trophy Trust meets on the second Tuesday of every month.

“This could prompt Sportsbook.com to offer odds on this even occurring by the second Tuesday of October, which is the 12th,” Stroup suggests.

Of course if you are looking to get some action down on Reggie Bush immediately, the popular online betting site is offering a prop bet on his total rushing yards on FIRST ATTEMPT this coming Thursday against the Minnesota Vikings, with an OVER/UNDER of 3.5.
