A middleweight bout between Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker will headline a UFC card in Saudi Arabia on July 22, Dana White announced last night.

White also confirmed that the victor will be in line to contend for the middleweight title, currently held by Dricus Du Plessis, later this year.

SportsBetting.ag made the undefeated Chimaev a hefty favorite against Whittaker on Thursday morning. However, the early action has moved the opening line lower.

Chimaev had hinted at the fight just hours leading up to White's confirmation.

“In the summer, I think – in the summer, we’ll be back,” Khamzat Chimaev said in an interview with FCR MMA. “I want to fight in Saudi Arabia, but I don’t think anybody wants to fight me there. We’ll see what’s going to happen, so (I’m) just waiting for something.”

Also, don't forget that Chimaev-DDP odds have been on the board since February 13. The Chechen opened as a -150 favorite (DDP +130), but that line has ballooned toward the favorite.

Fight Odds

Robert Whittaker          +165

Khamzat Chimaev         -190

(Note: Odds opened Chimaev -225, Whittaker +190)

Dricus Du Plessis           +170

Khamzat Chimaev         -200

(Note: Odds opened Chimaev -150, Du Plessis +130 on Feb. 13)
